See ehhhn, I love food.
I'm talking full blown LOVE!!!  There are very few foods I don't like  *asides from beans* and I'm very open to trying new stuff. I've had octopus, crocodile and even snake.  I live by "you gotta try it at least once" when it comes to food.
That's why I used to look like this......

Screenshot_2015-04-27-05-04-53_1                           Screenshot_2015-04-27-05-07-04_1Screenshot_2015-04-27-05-03-17_1

There's no doubt that i was a cutie but i was very unhealthy and to be honest, very unhappy.
Please don't get me wrong, I didn't get to a size 24  and 123kg  *at my biggest* just because of what I ate but it was a major contributing factor.
People always ask me "whats the secret?" and I hate to burst your bubble if you are looking for a quick fix but it's nothing but determination and a strong will to change your lifestyle and live a healthier life.
I've always been obese *yes, I use that word because that's exactly what i was*. At 10 yrs old I was wearing a B cup bra and was an adult size 10.
It worried my family and especially my mother.  I mean, this was her only daughter practically eating herself into an early grave. She bitched and bitched and I ate even more.
You can't understand a fat persons relationship with food until you have lived it. We eat when we are happy and eat even more when we are sad. It's comforting and familiar. You can't beat that combo!!! Lol!!
It took the death of my father who was/is the love of my life, a mild stroke and a severe bout of depression to make me realise that something HAD to change.
Trust me, it wasn't easy but nothing worth doing ever is.
The trick is first being ready mentally. People have been on my case about losing weight for as long as i can remember but that doesn't mean shit until you are ready. I even had a really close family friend of mine offer me $10k about 8 years ago if i could just come down to 90kg!!
You would think the igbo chick in me would have jumped at the offer but i stopped talking to him, sulked and ate some more jare.  At the risk of sounding dramatic, overeating is just as much as an addiction as drinking and drugs but what makes it worse is that it's more socially acceptable and as a woman if guys still think you are cute and you have correct toasters, nothing spoil biko!!! Lol!!
Anyway, to cut a long story short the decision to change YOUR lifestyle HAS to come from YOU.
IF and WHEN you decide, I have some useful tips for you.
  1. Find what works for you. I discovered walking and it changed my life. Little or no equipment is needed just comfy shoes and good music. If you have a smart phone, download an app that tracks your walks so you can set goals and monitor your improvement. I use Runkeeper.
  2. Make time for exercise. You set  your PVR to watch Lekki Wives so abeg you can pencil in 45mins a day to save your life
  3. Set challenging but realistic goals. The sense of achievement when you hit those goals is such a rush.
  4. Get your family and friends involved. People think i post my workouts on IG just to be vain *I am, but that's not the point* sometimes you need to be accountable to people who care about you and hearing words of support and encouragement can never be a bad thing, abi?
  5. DO NOT be obsessed about weighing yourself. Buy a tape measure and track lost inches instead. I would recommend weighing yourself once a month at most.
  6. Identify your major weakness, *mine was ice cream and pastry* and prove to yourself that you are better than your long throat by abstaining for a couple of months. #Mindovermatter kinda things. You get me?
  7. Food isn't your enemy. just make smarter choices. eat 3 serving spoons of rice instead of 5 or 6. Just lick the soup sometimes instead of eating it with pounded yam. Get more vegetables in your life . SAY NO TO SOFT DRINKS!!!!!!!!!
  8. If you want to lose weight AND keep it off, you have to make it a lifestyle. there are no quick fixes. Even weight loss surgery needs a lifestyle change for it to work.
  9.  Find a balance. Treat yourself from time to time but just be conscious of it. There's no magic trick to losing weight asides from eating less and exercising more. it's really that simple.
  10. DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!!

This is what worked for ME. We are all different but I'm just sharing my truths. If you would like to share your fitness journey/tips, please email me. I promise to keep you safe here.
And just because I'm vain......

Have a great day folks!! I hope this helped and encouraged even one person

Yup. I did the gym for a bit but t was basically to use the threadmill during the rainy season when walking outside became almost impossible. I like weights too though.
From when i got really serious till present day would be about a year and a half.

U just made me cry. Great to see someone that gets the battle with food. I have had people ask “what happened to you?” like I have some disease. “You used to be skinny”. It only made me eat more. I wanted so desperately to be slim that I abused my body. I starved, used diuretics and would make myself throw-up just coz I wanted to be slim to make people happy. I finally, realized that this journey is mine to make, at my own pace and in the right way. Its a slow process, but I will get there….. .. You truly inspire me.

      Fola, God bless you!!!
I am so happy that you have come to realise that it is YOUR journey. Take your time and do it right.
Thank you sooooooo much for opening up. That’s the first step in the right direction.
If you ever need to talk to someone who gets it, please don’t hesitate to email me.

    Hi Abobo…

I’ve been a silent follower of yours on IG for a while now and I’m so glad you’ve put up a blog..

Your weightloss journey has been so inspiring to watch especially since I went on that journey myself a few years back. At my biggest, I weighed 124kgs and at my lowest I was 80kgs.

I just had a baby two months ago and the entire process sent me back “to Egypt”.. Right now I just dread the thought of resuming work because it’s going to be tiring to just respond to all the questions about my weight gain.

Thanks for reminding me that the weightloss process starts in my head and that I just need to make baby steps to find my way back.

Hi Nwanne, first of all….. Congratulations!!!!!
Having a baby is one of the most wonderful things that can happen to a woman but also one of the most traumatic to her body.
Biko cut yourself some slack, you are a super hero who just brought life into the world.
The good thing is that you have been here before so you know what works for you so just take your time and retrace your steps.
Going from 124kg to 80 isn’t beans and i’m in awe of you.
      Jisike my dear

Yours has been a very inspired journey. I look with bulging eyes when I see your photos. Well done.
I have myself struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. Mainly because folks tell me I’m just fine the way I am,a size 16 but I’ve never been quite comfortable about it. And yes,I know what my problem is. Late night eating and soda. But I am trying, trust me, I am…to cut down on those
I’m quite the slob so I don’t visit the gym religiously but this walking you talked about sounds very doable.
Thanks for sharing this part of you with me. You look amazing!!!

    • Boki May 5, 2015 at 11:45 am Reply

Nne, i had people telling me they loved how i looked even at my biggest. That’s all good and fine but deep down inside, i wasnt happy.
The fact that you know where the problems lie is a MASSIVE step in the right direction.
Good luck hon and keep me posted biko. It’s a life long journey so just find a balance that works for you and is sustainable.

Incredible difference! You know with the daily posts & pictures it’s easy to forget that you transformed yourself completely with no extra just perseverance and consistency. The formula works, you look fantastic.

Nice weight loss journey and I am inspired to loss mine too. I used to weigh 55kg but now do weigh 70.06kg or so…but like U said the “decision to change lifestyle must come from you” but this post just inspired me more…and yeah I am subscribing to your blog too.

    500 Stars for your post!!!!!

I stalk you on Instagram and I always use you as a reference point for people who said I lost weight because I was in jand. I’d be like: please skip on over to Boki’s page on Instagram to see someone who lives in Abuja!!!!

You’re the real DEAL!!!! I don’t know if Instagram stalking earns me the right to say that I am so frigging proud of what you have done. Like, you ROCK!!!

Your look is amazing and everything you have said what it takes to lose weight is so true.

When people ask me, I say, I walked, and made healthier food choices, they turn around and fade like the wealthy man who asked Jesus what it would take to get into the kingdom of heaven.

    They’re NOT ready.

That being said, GOOD JOB, Boki! You look amazeballs!

      Thank you!!!!!
Please don’t stalk na, say hello…
I promise not to bite. Lol!!

How am I going through this by myself without RLW in my life. *Heads over to IG to add you* You look amazing and your tips are so realistic, I am working through a boat load of weight. I love to exercise, but I love love love to eat and I eat with my eyes. I am doing a lot better now. Not eating like food is going out of style and it feels good to look at this before and after pictures. I am not yet at my old self (the one that was always trying to lose weight), let alone a healthy size but I’m working!!

    I love your blog!

    • Boki May 14, 2015 at 11:56 pm Reply

You don’t know how happy this makes me. Take your time but remain focused. Over eating isn’t something that you can just switch off and on. It’s a life long habit that had to be broken. Good luck dear and if you have any questions or just want to talk, email me.

This is a memo to the webmaster. I discovered your page via Google but it was difficult to find as you were not on the first page of search results. I know you could have more traffic to your site. I have found a site which offers to dramatically increase your website rankings and traffic to your site: I managed to get close to 1000 visitors/day using their services, you can also get a lot more targeted traffic from search engines than you have now. Their service brought significantly more traffic to my website. I hope this helps!
